Description
The Crystal Australian Opal pendant has a pure gold and pure silver setting. The lustrous sky-blue Opal is striking. The Crystal and white Opals are from South Australian mines. The predominant colour of these mines is white and crystal. The crystal Opals have a translucent appearance with colours that float within the gemstone. The white Opals are opaque with the same appearance of flowing colours. The colours vary in intensity which affects the price. The more colour, the more valuable.
Our Opals are hand-cut by an Artisan gem cutter. Opals can also be carved or facetted.
Cabachon is flat on the back with a domed top, while a faceted gem has multiple flat surfaces like a diamond.
The Crystal Australian Opal pendant has pure yellow gold decorative rosettes and a pure silver oval setting that frames the Opal. The combination is bright and fresh-looking. The pendant has a shimmering finish which is feminine and pretty.
Opal’s main ingredient is silica. When mixed with water and left for evaporation, crystal forms. It takes between five to six million years for the process to complete. The climate is essential. A combination of wet and dry seasons is needed for a silica deposit to form. The rising and falling of water leaves behind a layer of silica. Now, all we need to do is wait for six million years.
