Kombu

Kombu is an ancient Korean technique here 24ct gold (pure gold) and pure silver are fused together by means of heat and pressure.

This technique is widely used in a variety of cultures; Japanese, Chinese and the West. Koreans and other East Asian peoples traditionally believed that the ingestion of pure gold would improve health and well-being. For this reason, many Korean silver utensils are decorated with 24-karat gold overlays in the form of letters and patterns that convey wishes for good health, wealth and longevity.

This process requires each piece be handmade therefore each piece varies slightly. Only natural gem stones are used.

Kombu Care instructions:

Sterling silver reacts with moisture to create a layer of tarnish or oxidation on its surface. Baking soda activated by boiling water in the presence of aluminium, will dislodge the tarnish by making it bind with the aluminium, leaving the sterling silver clean and shiny again. This is the simple, organic way to clean and polish your sterling silver jewellery. Do not place porous gems, such as pearl, in this solution. http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-Sterling-Silver-with-Baking-Soda-and-Aluminum
