Monica Szwaja handcrafts the striking Australian Doublet Opal Ring on the Mornington Peninsula. Rich 24ct gold and matte sterling silver create a bold contrast, while the warm 24ct gold bezel enhances and protects the opal’s vibrant play of colour.
The ring features a doublet opal, a thick slice of crystal opal bonded to an ironstone or similar backing. This structure intensifies the opal’s natural colours. Don’t confuse a doublet with a Triple, which includes a third clear layer on top.
This unique, contemporary piece carries Monica’s Maker’s Mark and the official stamp of the Gold and Silversmiths Guild of Australia, affirming its craftsmanship and authenticity.
