Description
The Starfish features a glistening design and a diamond set at its centre.
On a summer’s day at the beach, I discovered rock pools filled with warm water and small treasures. A Starfish caught my eye. It moved abstractly across the sand, and what attracted my attention was its sideways movement. The legs were doing their best to maneuver around the pool. Expressing the way the legs moved in metal was not easy. Cutting random leg shapes and lengths implied movement. I domed the belly, shaped, and thoughtfully filed the legs.
Lastly, I soldered on the pure gold granules, added the glistening texture, and finally set the diamond. To capture the glistening water and sunshine in the pendant, a frosting technique and the sparkle of a small diamond contributed to achieving the desired effect—the chosen medium is pure silver, which provides a glistening finish. Now, the concept of the Starfish with glistening features and a diamond is complete.
